Delete your Sync account

You can ask us to delete your Sync Software user account and the personal data associated with it. This applies to the Sync web app and the Sync iOS and Android apps.

How to delete your account

  1. 1

    Ask your organisation

    Your Sync account was set up by your employer, main contractor or another organisation. Their Sync administrator can remove you from their account at any time.

  2. 2

    Deactivate your account

    In the Sync web app, go to Account Settings and open the Deactivate tab. Deactivating stops you signing in, on the web and in the mobile app, straight away. After that you cannot view or download anything, so download anything you need first.

  3. 3

    Request deletion

    To have the personal data linked to your account deleted, email our support team from the email address on your Sync account. The button below starts the email for you.

Email a deletion request

Or email [email protected] with the subject "Account deletion request". Please include your full name and the organisation(s) you use Sync with.

What happens next

  • We may need to verify your identity before we complete the request. If you email from the address linked to your Sync account, that is usually enough.
  • We respond to requests within the time required by data protection law.
  • Where your account is managed by an organisation, we may let that organisation know about your request, or handle it on their instructions, because they control the records in their account.

What is deleted

  • Your ability to sign in to Sync, on the web and in the mobile apps, including viewing or downloading anything from the account.
  • Personal data associated solely with your user account, such as your profile, contact details, login details and notification settings. This is deleted or anonymised.

What may be kept

Your organisation, or the organisations you worked with, may need to keep business records that you contributed to. For example:

  • project records, tasks, photographs and documents;
  • site attendance, inductions and toolbox talk records;
  • audits, inspections, incident, near miss and accident records; and
  • timesheets, invoices and other commercial records.

These records belong to the relevant organisation, which may be required to keep them for legal, health and safety or contractual reasons. Deleting your account does not delete them, but your access to them ends.

We may also keep limited information where the law requires it, for security or fraud prevention, or to deal with legal claims. Where information is kept, access to it stays restricted and it is kept only as long as needed. Copies in our secure backups are removed as they are overwritten through our normal backup cycle.

Your other rights

You can also ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it. Our Privacy Notice explains your rights, how long we keep information and how to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
