JCT contract

A JCT contract is one of a widely used family of standard construction contracts published by the Joint Contracts Tribunal.
JCT stands for the Joint Contracts Tribunal, which publishes one of the most widely used families of standard-form construction contracts in the UK. A JCT contract sets out the rights and obligations of the parties, covering payment, variations, extensions of time, defects and dispute resolution, in a form the industry knows well.
JCT is often compared with the NEC suite of contracts, and which is used depends on the project and the client’s preference. The specific JCT form, such as Minor Works or Design and Build, changes the detail, so the contract itself is always the reference.
