Work at height
Also known as: Work at Height Regulations 2005
Work at height is any work where a person could fall a distance liable to cause injury. It is governed by the Work at Height Regulations 2005.
Work at height means working anywhere a person could fall a distance liable to cause injury, including work on scaffolds, ladders, roofs, and near openings or edges. Falls from height remain one of the biggest causes of serious injury and death in construction.
The Work at Height Regulations 2005 require you to avoid work at height where possible, use the right equipment where it cannot be avoided, and plan and supervise it properly. The controls you decide on belong in the task’s risk assessment and method statement.
